El Medano has the largest natural beach in Tenerife, called Playa de la Tejita. Isolated from the urban centre, its natural environment and clean sand and water, are features that make it a very popular place for many. The Cabezo Beach is world-famous for windsurfing; swimming here, you’ll see the best windsurfers in the world training for the next competition. Different international windsurfing competitions such as O’Neill Tenerife Grand Prix and the World Windsurfing Championship take place at The Cabezo.
The Bare Mountain protected natural area is a beautiful and secluded beach of fine black sand, which can be reached by a lovely walk along the sea. Walking south, we head to the small fishing village of Los Abrigos, known for its fresh fish restaurants. Along the way we will find many small beaches; between them, we can take an unforgettable swim in beautiful natural pools surrounded by rocks.
If sunbathing all day isn’t your thing, El Médano offers countless activities, all of them in full contact with nature. The wind conditions, good waves and mild year-round temperatures, make this small corner of the coast a paradise for sports enthusiasts of wind and water.
